Built by parents, for parents.
Australia’s most trusted mum.
Why mum.au exists
Australian parents drown in product choices, sponsored “reviews” dressed up as editorial, and overseas advice that doesn’t fit local life. Pram brands that aren’t sold here. American formula recommendations. UK car seat standards that don’t pass ACCC checks.
We built mum.au because we couldn’t find a single source that did three things at once: focused only on Australia, refused to sell its opinion, and actually tested the products it recommended.
Our promise: independent, Australia-focused product reviews. Brands don’t pay to appear in our “best of” guides. Ever.
How we choose what to review
Every product on mum.au earns its place through four filters:
Real search demand
We start with what Australian mums are actually Googling. Not what brands want us to write about.
ACCC safety standards
Every product reviewed is checked against Australian safety regulations — car seats, cots, prams, the lot.
Independent testing
We pull from Choice, Red Nose Australia, manufacturer specs, and verified retailer reviews — never PR press releases.
Aussie mum feedback
Real reviews from Australian parents using these products in real homes — not staged shoots from overseas.
The research, done for you.
We’re a small independent editorial team based in Australia — real parents with real experience. Our team researches products, tests them where we can, reads every retailer review, and writes every guide you see here. The work is hands-on.
We combine that human review work with the highest level of modern research tools available — the kind major publishers pay a premium for. That means we can cover more products, in more depth, than a traditional team alone. Wider research, faster comparisons, but every recommendation still passes the friend test: would we actually tell a mate to buy this?
What we don’t do: take payment for placements in our “best of” guides. What we do: research it, review it, write it honestly — and publish only what we’d genuinely recommend.
How we make money
Some links on mum.au are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund independent research and reviews without taking money from brands.
Affiliate relationships never influence our recommendations. We recommend products because they’re good for Australian families, not because they pay more.
Where we run sponsored content, it’s clearly labelled — always.
Got a question? Got a product? Got a story.
We’d love to hear from you.
